So I'm back with another 30 Day Challenge from Chewy! Originally I was going to try this with all of my pups but below I explain why I chose Rocky.
This month, I'll be using Stella & Chewy's Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food. This first post is about my initial thoughts on the product, packaging, and ingredients.
When the bags arrived I was super excited. First of all, I love the design of the bags and I love that these bags are resealable so I don't have to worry about freshness or transferring them to another food container.
Stella & Chewy's Freeze-Dried Patties are part of a raw diet. Most people assume that a raw diet means you have to cook your dog's food every night but that is not the case. Instead, everything is freeze-dried and ready to go.
Stella & Chewy's philosophy is that pets thrive when they are fed the same diet they would get in the wild so that's why their food is packed with 90-95% meat, organs, and ground bone to give them nutrition and energy. It's a complete and balanced meal without having to grind, chop, measure, or mix ingredients on your own. There are no grains or gluten and this food is high in protein and is proudly made in their own kitchen!! The meat is grass-fed, cage-free, and wild-caught.
Raw diets have a lot of benefits including healthy teeth and gums, shiny coat, energy, and great appetite and digestion.
So as soon as I opened the bag I noticed Rocky got a whiff and he was so excited. He is normally the pickiest eater EVER so that's when an idea hit me. Instead of having to sit with him every day like I do and trying to coax him to eat, I would see if he liked these..... and in order to make sure he drinks enough water I decided to mix some water into it and kind of tear it up into pieces.
So here we go - check back in 2 weeks when I let you know how he's doing on it!
